The Hip2b2 (hip to be square) Show did over 200 shows at high schools around the country from January 2008 to August 2009. This is a tremendously exciting project, aimed at enhancing the image of the science and maths subjects, and encouraging high school learners to persevere with them.
The lively, multi-media presentation was a showcase of 150 years of science history, using a combination of animation, on-screen information and live actors.
This project is offered to schools by the Shuttleworth Foundation, pursuing the need for more science and maths graduates in our country. Once again, the aim of the production is to communicate to teenagers in a thoroughly modern, exciting way, using multi-media and laughter to break down barriers and raise awareness.
This first video is a short documentary about the Hip to be Square Roadshow, and the second clip shows excerpts from both the live show and the informative DVD that formed part of it.
This last clip shows the short promo that was used during a combined Kellog's Cornflakes and Hip to be Square promotion at malls all over Gauteng, in August and September 2009.
